Fishing in the Gulf
Apalachicola, one of the last places on the Gulf Florida coast tending shrimp and fishing commercialisation. This fisherman, Stewart Brooks, from Alabama, ( actually not a commercial fisherman) was proud of his catch and I stopped him as he was running to show his wife this prize. He ran off to show his wife and then returned the fish to the Gulf. He explained that the fish was too old to keep-by law he needed to return it. I am not sure why.
The shrimp boats go out at night and return early morning with the fresh catch. Locals told me that 25 years ago there would be 5 boats tied side by side each morning. Fishing is a fading business from overfishing and climate change.
